COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Bloodletting has always been an integral part of Chinese Medicine and may well be the most ancient form of acupuncture. It is the quickest and most direct way to remove blood stasis, which is responsible for much of the pathology and symptoms we see in our clinics. Those who use it report stellar results, but unfortunately, the technique is underused by practitioners and under-taught by schools.
The purpose of this course is to give practitioners the knowledge they need in order to use bloodletting safely, confidently, and effectively in the clinic. The emphasis is how to use this ancient art for bleeding points and zones used classically and in Master Tung bloodletting therapy, using modern tools and instruments where appropriate, and how to correctly and safely bloodlet in your clinic.
Practitioners will learn key bloodletting concepts, bloodletting in Western Medicine, bloodletting safety, tools for bloodletting, how to talk to patients about bloodletting, bloodletting procedures, veins to bleed and to avoid, favorite conditions to treat with bloodletting, and case study examples.
Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:
Understand the safety considerations of bloodletting including proper technique, contraindications, and possible adverse reactions
Know the equipment used, which instruments to use and which to avoid, how to dispose of used items
Know the bleeding points and zones used classically and in Master Tung bloodletting therapy
Know the indications for which bloodletting will likely be successful and how to treat each one
