A Basic Intro to (Working With) Veterinary Medicine

There is an ever increasing trend in veterinary medicine towards the use of complementary and alternative therapies, which are effective and produce fewer adverse effects than pharmaceuticals. This course is intended as an introduction to Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) and serves as an educational tool for acupuncturists to work with veterinarians to provide safe and effective treatments in animals.

In this course, Dr. Julie Mayer, who is certified in veterinary acupuncture, veterinary chiropractic, and canine rehabilitation, shares a basic introduction to veterinary medicine beginning with an animal acupuncture timeline, the history of veterinary acupuncture, acupuncture through a veterinarian’s eyes, the differences between animal and human acupuncture, and finishing with acupuncture points in animals.

Upon completion of this course, practitioners will:

• Understand the history of veterinary acupuncture.
• Recognize how acupuncture looks through the eyes of a veterinarian.
• Understand the differences between animal and human acupuncture.
• Learn acupuncture points in animals and how to work with a veterinarian to provide safe and effective treatments in animals.
