Michael Akong LAc, MS, MPH

Michael Akong is a graduate of the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego (PCOM). He teaches at PCOM and has given seminars at the Pacific Symposium (an annual international meeting sponsored by the school).

Michael received his Bachelors degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology at the University of California at San Diego and later received his Masters in Public Health from San Diego State University. He continues to work in many clinics in San Diego, Mexico, and around the world. He also has over 25 scientific publications and eight U.S. patents in biomedical research. Michael has investigated many applications of Oriental Medicine working with some of the best physicians in the field including Professor Ming Qing Zhu and Toshikatsu Yamamoto M.D., Ph.D. Michael runs two clinics for the treatment of spinal cord injury, stroke and general/internal medicine. He was also the first practicing physician in Oriental Medicine for Paradise Valley Hospital in San Diego.
