There are so many effective acupuncture protocols that are used today, such as Master Tung's acupuncture and the Balance Method, so how do you choose the right one for you? There's no need to pick just one when you can combine them all! Join Jean-Sylvain Prot, a diverse acupuncturist who integrates I Ching, the Balance Method, Master Tung's acupuncture, qi gong, and tuina in his practice, as he shares how to use Channel Diagnosis to correctly pinpoint the diseased channel and then use a combination of treatment protocols to achieve ultimate clinical results.
Channel Diagnosis is based on a detailed study of the paths of acupuncture channels and their relationship to muscle chains, similar to the acupuncture protocols found in Master Tung's acupuncture and the Balance Method. Its approach combines western bio-mechanic concepts and classical TCM teaching so that through a series of precise movements, the channels involved in the actual cause of the pain are determined. Once the diseased channels are identified, acupuncture points are selected based on the classical teachings of the Nan Jing and Nei Jing, the origins of all acupuncture protocols.
In Part I of this two part series, Jean goes over what is Channel Diagnosis in detail, modern biomechanics, the Five phases (Wu Xing), how to identify abnormal areas in the upper and lower body using orthopedic tests, and goes over the Channel Test protocol: performing the test, identify abnormal areas or aspects, and selecting the acupuncture points to treat.
